The children entering the four year old class at The Campbell School have a strong foundation of skills started in the three year old room. We build on these skills while trying to instill a love for learning. In the classroom as in life, no child is alike. We focus on helping the children realize their own unique potential. The morning starts with social interaction with friends building with blocks or legos, playing in the dress up area, working at the play dough table or creating a special art project. Classroom time includes working on handwriting projects, recognizing colors, letters, shapes, and numbers, art projects, science experiments, and enjoying books. From a social aspect, we focus on teamwork, good manners, listening and focus skills, sharing, cooperation, and respect of others. An emphasis is given to fine motor skills as well as coordination, balance, and other gross motor activities. Children leaving the four year old room leave more confident, polite and ready to face the next phase of their education.
