SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our school! It’s hard to believe we are starting our tenth year of The Campbell School. The next few weeks will be very exciting as we settle in and watch as old friends are reacquainted and new friendships begin.
There has been a change in the teaching staff over the summer. Four-year-old teacher, Nancy Bersani, will not be returning this year. She has decided to pursue her love of animals and become a full time animal control officer. We will miss her but we’re excited to welcome Kristen McArdle who will team up with Theresa Wilkinson in the four-year-old class.
The other big change is the building is no longer home to the Temple Shalom. It is now home to The Concord Baptist Church of Boston. They’ve been doing a lot of work over the summer and will officially move in this week.
Check out our new website! www.thecampbellschool.com is up and running. Thanks to Jackrabbit Design for helping us with it.
There are several children in the school who have allergies to peanuts and/or tree nuts. In order to keep these children safe, nuts (or anything containing nuts) will not be allowed in the school at any time. Please keep this in mind when you are packing lunches.
We also need to know if your child has any allergies to animals. Mrs. McArdle and Mrs. Wilkinson have a turtle in her classroom. The kindergarten has fish, a turtle and a hamster.
For your information and the safety and well being of your child, there are a few “school rules” you should be aware of.
Preschool hours are 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., kindergarten hours are 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Please don’t arrive before 8:45. Our teachers need time in the morning to set up the day’s activities and be ready to give your child her undivided attention upon arrival. We appreciate your cooperation. If you do need to have your child arrive early or leave late, we offer early arrival and extended day programs at an additional fee.
When bringing your child to school please remain with him/her until he/she has been greeted by a teacher. If your child is apprehensive about staying it is usually best to give him/her a big hug, tell him/her to have fun and you’ll be back in a little while. Your positive attitude will be reassuring. If your child is upset when you leave we will call to let you know how he/she is doing. When picking up your child, please be sure your teacher knows he/she is leaving.
Children will not be released to anyone not known to us. If someone else will be picking up your child please let his/her teacher know. If the person is not on your child’s signed release form we will require a written note from you. Identification will be checked if there is any question.
Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school from home. We wouldn’t want them to get lost or broken.
When selecting school clothes, please remember children love to play and paint. We sometimes get messy! Play clothes and sneakers are best for school.
Please label your child’s clothing, backpack, and lunch box with his/her name.
On rainy days please leave umbrellas at home. They can be dangerous in a group setting.
If your child is in the Kindergarten or stays for Extended Day please send a lunch with him/her. Please remember not to send in anything containing peanuts or tree nuts. We have limited kitchen facilities so please do not send anything that needs to be refrigerated or heated.
Children like to know what to expect so please let his/her teacher know approximately what time you’ll be picking up when staying for Extended Day.
An important part of your child’s year is celebrating his/her birthday. In order to ensure that foods are safe for all children including those with food allergies, we ask that parents not send anything in for their child’s birthday. The school will provide a special celebration for each child. We celebrate half birthdays for children born during the summer months.
We encourage close cooperation and open communication with parents. You are invited to visit your child’s classroom to observe at any time. You might also like to participate in a special project when a teacher needs extra help or share a special talent or occupation with the class.
Please keep us up-to-date on address and telephone changes and if there are any changes in your child’s life that may be reflected in behavior and/or attitude. These changes could be a new baby, death of a family member or pet, divorce, change of residence, medication, or illness.
Your child will be bringing home many wonderful creations during the year. A backpack or school bag will be helpful in transporting these masterpieces.
Thank you for sending your child to our school. We look forward to a year of exploring, growing, learning, and having lots of fun!
